I don’t have a lot of thoughts about this book except for that it was pretty good. Like a solid “huh, yeah, I liked that.” I realize this is a controversial statement, but it can’t be surprising based on my luck with reading so far this year.
Let’s keep this short and sweet: Evelyn was cool, Monique was absolutely uninteresting as a point-of-view character, and I wish the book understood that I get the theme. Like I get it. Thank you, though. For telling me. Again and again.
That said, I was pretty enthralled from the beginning. I needed to know who these seven husbands were and why she wanted to give her story to Monique specifically. The payoff was decent, but I do wish this book gave us something to chew on. It felt almost like a beach read, which isn’t intrinsically bad — it’s just not what I was expecting.
Anyway.
thank u, next
